The Absecon Academy of Performing Arts was built on a wooded lot in Galloway Township 30 years ago when the director and her family moved from the NYC area. Since then Kinderdancers have graduated from college and teenagers have grown up, married and brought their children here to dance. We have watched them grow as dancers and as people and hope the we have made a positive contribution to their lives - we miss them when they move on.
AAPA is a family oriented studio run by generations of dancers who have their roots in Vaudeville and Broadway. The director Pam Picciotti, comes from a long line of performers behind her mother, aunt, grandfather and granduncle. Her husband Tony is also a teacher here, along with their daughter Jennifer, who is now the 4th generation. They aren't the only dancing family here however. We have sisters, brothers, cousins and mothers who have caught the dancing bug from someone in their family.
The instructors at AAPA have studied with the best New York has to offer and bring that knowledge along with a love of performing to their students. These students in turn have gone on to become dance majors, instructors and performers with dance teams, ballet companies, in casino revues, music videos and stage productions. In 2012 AAPA dancers had the honor of performing in London during the Olympics!
They have also had many opportunities to perform with us in our winter showcases, annual recitals, community events and dance competitions.
Students can start dancing at the age of 3 in our Kinderdance program and then move on to classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pointe, Musical Theater, Irish and acting.
So whether your dream is to dance on Broadway or just around your living room, we will give you the technique and the performance ability it takes to know the joy of being a dancer - and we will miss you when you move on.
